В сборнике представлены как новые сюжеты (торговое сотрудничество между Россией и Финляндией в 1918-1919 гг., политика представительства «красных финнов» в России в марте – июне 1918 г., переписка В.И. Ленина и Г.В. Чичерина по формированию внешней политики России и т. д.), так и новые документы: стенограммы переговоров между Россией и Финляндией в Берлине (в августе 1918), протоколы пленарных заседаний и заседаний комиссии по перемирию и мире (в Раяйоки и в Тарту в апреле – октябре 1920 г.), некоторые ноты МИД Финляндии и НКИД России и т. д.“Russia and the independence of Finland: 1899-1920” is the result of the joint work of Finnish and Russian historians. It contains more than a thousand documents (more than 42 % appear for the first time in public) from the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, the Russian State Archive of the Military Sea Fleet, the Russian State Military Archive, as well as from the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the Archive of the Russian Empire Foreign Policy and the Archive of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Archive of the Russian Federation and the National Archives of Finland. Photo documents from Finnish museums and Russian archives and libraries offer the reader a gallery of portraits and plot scenes. The publication is equipped with an extensive scientific and reference apparatus and applications.The third volume covers the period from the restoration of the Finnish autonomy in March 1917 to the ratification in December 1920 of the peace treaty concluded in October 1920 between the RSFSR and the Republic of Finland. The collection presents both new subjects (trade cooperation between Russia and Finland in 1918-1919, the policy of the “red Finns” representation in Russia in March -June 1918, correspondence between V.I. Lenin and G.V. Chicherin on the formation of Russian foreign policy, etc.), as well as new documents: transcripts of negotiations between Russia and Finland in Berlin (in August 1918), minutes of plenary meetings and meetings of the armistice and peace commission (in Rayajoki and in Tartu in April-October 1920), some notes of the Finnish Foreign Ministry and the People’s Commissariat of the Foreign Policy of Russia, etc.
