While full of amazing content, the app is ephemeral when one switches away to another app. Substack disappears from the app switcher, even losing one's place in the current article. If you don't immediately like an article there is no history to help you find the same article, leaving you lost from something you might want to continue reading. It's almost better to open an article in a browser tab to make sure the article doesn't get lost forever.

Dysfunctional. Tapping a Notes notification does not take you to that note. App does not allow editing comments. Does not keep running in background. Good luck cutting and pasting to/from another app. Plus many other things that don't have basic function. Its awful. I love the platform, but please fix this app instead of rolling out more and more features. Or just make the mobile website more functional. It does many wacky, frustrating things as well.

The content is great, but the app and website are frustrating to use. When trying to claim a free post, the website redirects to the app, but the app returns an error. Sometimes, the website states that "teaser posts are not available for this content." I've attempted to claim a free post through email, the website, and the app, but none have worked. It feels like a bait-and-switch, and Substack could be setting itself up for a class action lawsuit.
